About

Focusing on Tweens, Teens and Young Adults

Tweens and teens are particularly critical of themselves all have a tendency to compare themselves with their peers and images on social media. Many feel that they are not enough. At times they need some additional tools in dealing with academic and athletic performance anxiety, perfectionism, depression, along with social and family issues. We work on building a growth mindset, resilience and help them build life skills along with a generous dose of self compassion. To love others we first need to love ourselves. Investing in helping your child to be their best self will result in allowing them to cultivate lasting friendships and relationships. “The self image that appears in the mirror is made up of judgements. It is not the real you. The song bird, which is our true nature, still sings, but it is difficult to hear her song above the shrieks of a self-image, or ego that feels separate and afraid. The beauty we once saw in the mirror is still with us, but it is distorted by self-judgement.” Isabel O’Driscoll has spent the last 20 years working with children, teens and their parents in various settings. She holds an undergraduate degree psychology and counseling and a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. She is EMDR trained and has experience in working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral problems and executive functioning issues along with crisis and trauma counseling. She works closely with schools and often helps students receive needed accommodations for mental health issues. Sage Counseling is a sacred space and Isabel considers it a privilege to come alongside people of all ages who are struggling or at a crossroad in life. Suffering can be a time of pain and also tremendous growth. Richard Rohr states that, “We only grow through great love and great suffering”. She has served as a school counselor at a K4-12th grade school since 2006. She loves interacting and helping children and teens navigate educational, social and emotional challenges. She is passionate about mental wellness education and teaching life skills that can help them gain self understanding and positively shape relationships with others. She has three amazing daughters who are graduates of Rollins College, Valencia, UCF, and UF School of Medicine. During her free time she loves the beach, traveling, finding cool places to eat, reading and spending time with family and friends.
